Our Social Innovation Lab
Through our Social Innovation Lab, Social Creatures builds solutions to social connectedness problems. We design our solutions to be inclusive of historically and currently excluded groups and impactful at scale, through the use of applied research and community co-design strategies. We also partner with socially-conscious organizations to build these strategies into their own operations and measure the impact of their services.
Our Projects
Social Creatures x Charles Lazarus Childrens Abilities Center x STEAMpark
Social Creatures has partnered with the Charles Lazarus Children’s Abilities Center and STEAMpark to create the Generational Youth Mentors (GYM) program. GYM provides K-8 learners with virtually-immersive, one-on-one academic mentoring from a supportive high school or college student.
Social Creatures x Performance 360
Social Creatures has come together with Performance 360 and the Spinal Cord Injury Transitions group of Mount Sinai to create “SitGrit” live group exercise classes to be done from a fully seated position. Classes are led by world class trainers of Olympic and elite athletes. Join our classes on Zoom on Tuesdays and Thursdays, or find them archived on our YouTube Channel. All levels welcome and no equipment needed.
Social Creatures x NABU
With generous support from the Futures Forum on Learning, Social Creatures has teamed up with NABU to create “NABU Learning Labs.” NABU learning labs is a collaborative research initiative aimed at producing strategic, data-driven growth of NABU’s on-the-ground practices, while also producing more inclusive, equitable, and actionable research on the science of learning and social connection as it pertains to literacy development.
Social Creatures x The Family Room
Social Creatures has partnered with The Family Room to provide a secure and highly-interactive digital platform for children and teenagers who were disconnected from their learning and social support networks as a result of COVID-19. Social Creatures has teamed up with Blooming Health to help accelerate the development and deployment of their social connectedness technology solution for older adults.
Social Creatures x United Spinal Association x Mount Sinai
Social Creatures has partnered with the New York City Chapter of the United Spinal Association, as well as with Mount Sinai’s Abilities Research Center to innovate social connectedness solutions for individuals transitioning to life with a spinal cord injury.
